usb problem

usb ports where working fine on windows 98.I changed to windows xp now
the ports will not work.my computer will only work if the usb is
disabled in the bios.

Install/update the motherboard chipset drivers.

Check with the motherboard manufacturer's web site for possible BIOS updates.
Some older motherboards require/required BIOS updates for XP.
