Is there something tricky about sharing a USB-attached
printer across a peer network ? I can see the system it's
attached to but not the printer. I have the proper user
accounts setup on each system, file & printer sharing is
on, firewall is off, workgroups are the same, they're all
on a DSL line with a Linksys router, I'm just not able to
see the USB printer. Any ideas ?

Thanks !

Have you actually shared the printer itself ? If you open the
Printers applet does the printer show with a "Hand" underneath
it ? (Icon denotes a shared resource).

Using XP Home with Simple File Sharing, the printer will be
automatically detected and shown in Workgroup PCs.

Thanks but my impression was that the drivers don't get
installed until the printer is seen. Is that wrong ?

If the PC serving the printer uses the same OS as the client side
computer, the driver is copied over. If the Client Printer PC uses a
different OS, then you may have to manually supply the driver for
that particular OS.
