USB Printer setup problem

I am trying to install an Epson Stylus Photo R300 on my computer, running
windows XP with Service Pack 1 installed without success.
I have followed the installation instructions to the letter.

The problem I have is that my computer does not recognise any USB port set
up for printing
How can these be set up.

any help would be greatly appreciated

Try removing the ports using Device Manager and let Windows find the ports
on reboot, and install the necessary drivers for them. If the ports are
then recognized, you have attained victory! Install your printer per the
instructions from Epson.
