USB ports not working

My USB ports stopped working when I download SP1 express.
My new computer came with XP Home installed and I used my
XP Professional upgrade. When I downnload the SP1
express, the USB ports stopped working!

I'm no expert but try disabling the ports in Device Manager and letting XP
rediscover them. I had a problem like you described and after many other
efforts decided to try this and it worked.
