Check your motherboard chipset driver as well as your motherboard BIOS to
see if either (or both) need to be updated.
Contact the manufacturer of the system if it is under warranty.
Try a POWERED USB hub - plug it in and plug the printer into it.

How To Ask Questions The Smart Way

Thanks Shenan
I will check it out more and see if this is fix or mybe buy new computer.

I am not very good with computers but find myself with none of my USB ports
working. They were fine a few weeks ago and now - nothing will work.
Coincidentally, my daughter who lives in an apartment is having the same
problem. I don't know what it means when you say to check the motherboard
chipset driver or BIOS. Can you tell me how to do this? I have gone into
the DEVMGMT.MSC and it tells me that the device status "is working properly".
I have removed the 4 USB hubs and had the computer automatically restore
then and that did not work. I have "updated" the drivers using the hardware
update wizard; however, it says that it could not find a better match for my
hardware. I have spend about 5 hours trying to fix this problem and really
don't know what to do. If anyone could provide me with specific steps to
try, I am more than willing and would greatly appreciate any/all help!!!
Thanks in advance. TAD

Hi,

Do a Google search for.....
not enough power for usb ports

This may be your problem. If the printer works but drains all the power from
the other Ports then this is your problem. When you unplug the printer and
all other Ports work this seems to be a power issue.

All the best,
SG
