USB port update

I recently updated my DSL Internet software and now,
everytime I click on the icon 'uplug or eject hardware', I
am disconnected from the Internet. I contacted my
Internet service provider who explained (I think) that
this is because the new software isn't integrated with my
usb hub card and that I should go to the microsoft updates
site and update the usb port. I am in France and my
French isn't very good, so I had difficulty understanding
what the guy was saying, but basically I think he
suggested when I try to disconnect something, the DSL
connection loses electricity, or something like that.
Anyway, I can't find the usb port update for Windows
2000. Any help would be appreciated.

The best I can think of here not knowing what service pack you are at or the type of USB port you use is this:

Since you are in France and I believe you want to read in English make sure your languages in right-click IE icon | Properties | Languages... | has English at the top.
