USB pen drive detected but not working...

When I insert a working pen drive into one of the USB ports in my computer,
the Windows Xp sp2 detects it (it apears at the "safely remove hardware"
icon).
However I can´t see it in the windows explorer...
I´ve already tried the steps in the article "New drive or mapped network
drive not available in Windows Explorer" but didn´´t work...
Any suggestions?
Thanks

I had this happen with an external USB hard drive and the reason was
because it wasn't formatted yet. I connected the HDD to IDE to format it
then put it back in the USB enclosure. Don't know how to fix it with a
pen drive though. Assuming that is the issue.

Hi Uwe. Thanks for the tip. unfortunately it didn´t work.

All the pen drives I´ve tried to use were formatted.
i don´t have DAEMON tools intalled on my computer
it isn´t a drive letter conflict...
And other USB devices (like mouse, joystick) works...

Will I have to format and install win again?
Thanks
Tiba

Click Start, Run (Type) DiskMgmt.Msc [Enter]
Verify the disk appears in the table listings as DiskX with the
text "Removable" below it. If so, Right Click Blue Bar and
choose "Change Driver Letters and Paths" - pick a mid-alphabet
letter for it (L-O).
If not in Disk Management listing, then it may have enumerated
into the "Other" Devices category and would need other adjustments
to be seen and accessed.
