Yesterday I decided to setup my webcam again. The cam had been plugged in
since before a reinstall a couple of weeks ago so I got the software and
went for it. The software reported that the cam wasn't plugged in when it
was. I double checked this but managed to pull out my cable modem by mistake
(stupid I know so no need to tell me) and since then it's not worked. In
fact it's looking like something within the cam software has totally
flattened my USB ports as I've pulled out the cable modem before and it's
been fine after a reboot.
The strange thing is If I plug in the cable modem it's recognised so there's
some functionality there. It doesn't work though which is bizarre (it's
currently plugged into the ethernet card which I know is a better option but
it's ruined my network for now)
I've uninstalled the cam software completely and even deleted the USB
reference from the device manager so that windows can refind them (which it
does but still fails to use them).
I'm thinking that there must be a way to 'reset' the usb ports somehow.
Something in there isn't happy and I need to know how to get them back up
and running as I'm looking at a piece of kit which is usb only.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
