USB mouse woes...

B

Brian Oblivious

hello all,

i have a great build of XPE on my device and everything is
working well, with the exception of my mouse. using a
Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical 1.1A USB, and here's the issue:

the mouse works great if the machine is booted with mouse
connected...however, if you disconnect the mouse and try to
hotplug, the mouse will no longer work- and "Could not
start error 10" is displayed in device manager.

i am fairly certain i have all required components enabled,
and have no trouble hotplugging two other usb devices
(HASP4, and usb mass storage key). anyone have any ideas?

Hey Wayne, nice web page, i like the idea of using the AVI to help explain
the issue, very nice indeed!

Can you start a new thread and attach the PMQ that was generated from
TAP.exe on full XP-Pro? Also what is the exact make/model of the trackball?
Is this using a third party driver or driver supplied in the DB?

Also, have you tried experimenting with Heidi's vampire.slx on
www.xpefiles.com to see if it repros on top of that? If it repros there as
well, then it's most likely not a missing component dependency.

With that PMQ and other information from above, i'll see if I can scrounge
up one to experiment on.

Thanks Wayne.

I'm not sure if this will help, but I ran into a USB detection problem a
long long time ago with a USB mouse, and I had to add the "USB User
Interface" component for the file usbui.dll.

HTH... Doug
