USB Memory stick problem

Hi, guys

I encountered a problem on USB memory stick:
I bought a 512M SimpleTech USB memory stick, it worked smoothly. Recently,
when I plug the memory stick into the laptop USB port, I can find the drive
(on my computer, it's drive "F"), but I was told the disk need to be
formatted, the total capacity & the free space are both 0 byte, actually, I
have a lot of files stored in this memory stick and it can be used
successfully in other computer.

To my surprise, when I connect the memory stick on the computer and re-boot
the system, it works, I can access all the files in the memory stick, the
problem is: it does not work when I safety remove and re-plug it into the
USB port. would anybody here give me advise on this?
