I have Windows XP Pro and sometimes inserting my USB flash drive causes my
computer to restart without warning. Then it will say that Windows has
recovered from a serious error. Any suggestions?

I'll be back with more specific error info when it happens again.

Thanks!

Check your motherboard manufacturers [1] website to see if there's any new
USB drivers

[1] or the maker of your USB card

My motherboard maker, Gigabyte, was unable to provide me with any help. The
newest chipset drivers, which include usb drivers, knock out my computer's
ability to play any game at all. So...as far as I can tell...I'd have to
reinstall Windows and then the newest motherboard chipset drivers. The new
chipset drivers did seem to fix my usb flash key drive problem. I'm
wondering if Microsoft has a patch or anything to help?

Have you tried going back using system restore, Or did you turn that off?

Is anything else connected to the USB port? If so try a powered USB hub.

Maybe there is some problem with the power supply to the device, causing the
reboot.

What about changing the settings in the BIOS to USB 1.1.
