USB Hubs and storage devices

My machine has recently stopped recognising my Disgo key and the USB hub,
they both work on my laptop. All other USB devices are found ok such as phone
printer camera etc. I have tested the USB ports and they are all fine. It
does not recognise the device an says there is no driver. But I have updated
rolled back and re-installed everything!! I have bought a new hub and a USB
external harddrive it will not recognise them either. Could this be a service
pack 2 problem? I am at my wits end as I do not wish to do a hard reset.
Anybody had this problem??

It's simply a Windoze problem. Has nothing to do with service pack
installed. I've seen this crap happen with XP, XP w/SP1. XP is flaky as
hell when it comes to dealing with USB2. Eventually had to just plug all my
USB2 devices into my Linux box to get them to stay working.

1.My xp firewall is turned off, guess why?

2. dont have a alinux box and will not be getting one.

Any clever ideas that might help me? Do you thind a reset will solve the
problem?
