USB hub and 2 pc's

Is it possible to connect 2 pc's into a USB hub then share yet another device
that is plugged into that same hub? The hub is self-powered. The device
requies no power, like a flash card reader.
If so, do I use an A to A cable with both ends female to connect the pc's to
the hub?

Thanks for any help,
Phil

I don't think you can. If you have the cables you could try. I dont think it
would break, I just don't think it would work. Someone else might have tried
it and have specific info. My hub has its own wire to connect it to the
computer then all devices plug into it, there is no way that I coud plug two
computers into it.

Thanks all, I didn't know if it was possible since the pc is powering the
hub. I thought there might be a power conflict.
What I'm trying to do is share a USB security key to run software. You guys
may not want to thouch this one, but if you have suggestions, pls advise.

Thanks

No, because only one PC can host the hub.

I suppose you could use a USB switch to change the hub from one computer to
another ...don't know how well that would work tho

Looking at my 1x8 hub I'm wondering...

Suppose--for the sake of argument just suppose--that there was a USB hub
with (say) two sockets on the connect-to-computer side. Would it be possible
for two PCs connected to the hub to share devices attached to the other
side?

why pay for rollercoasters when you can have such fun and thrills in your
own car?

I guess if there *were* two sockets, then someone would have thought
through the electrical issues, and the device contention issues to make
it work. In the end, you've probably got a pretty special hub.
