Using windows 95, I know, I know but the customer don't want to upgrade now.

The problem is that he bought a USB printer as he have USB ports on his IBM
machine but windows 95 as OS

As far as I know, win 95 didn't know about USB but in the devices manager, I
see that he have a USB hub root detected.

Is there a way to have win 95 recognise the USB printer ? I remember
something about OSR2 but, too far.

Could anyone give me a tip ?

All of the users that I have that wish to keep Win 95 and have a USB printer
to install have been satisfied by doing this... I add a PCI USB 2.0 card
and run the software, install the printer (costs about $20)... I have yet
to have a problem... Except on one comp that had no PCI Slots... I just
shared a printer on the network and he uses that one to print to..

If you don't get an answer here there is an windows 95 newsgroup: See
this list of all newsgroups: http://aumha.org/nntp.htm

IIRC OSR 2.1 and 2.5 did support USB 1.0. They these versions were only
available from the OEM, I think.

See this link: http://www.usbman.com/Win95 USB Guide.htm

I did forget to mention, I usually get an error when installing the software
for the printer though...

The HP software tells me that I do not meet minimum requirements for
installing the software, highlighting Operating System, it does however, ask
me if I want to continue anyway, I select yes, and everything works fine..

Win95B has support for USB 1.1, but was only available as OEM with
new systems.
Win95 Service Pack1 with IE V4.0 *may* have the USB add on [not
100% sure though]

Win95 ver B (OSR2) and ver C both offered the original drivers for USB 1.0
only. Prior versions of Win95 have no USB support. USB 1.1 was not
supported by MS until Win98.

USB was supported by Win95 SR2 if a download was added, and SR2.1 and
later if hte same material was installed from the CD. Several systems
of the period had USB, and we used USB devices with Win95 SR2 fine.

What has changed is that modern goods no longer provide Win95xx
drivers. So yes, you can plug it in, Windows 95 SR2 with the USB
Suppliment will see it, but you can't get drivers for the device.

If the system has an AGP card, then you know it has OS support for USB
built in - because the same "USB Suppliment" is required for AGP !
