usb help

my usb external hard drive and little thumb drives were working
perfectly, now they don't work at all. the system is not recognizing
them. i changed around everything, put camera usb cable where external
drive was and camera still is recognized, changed back and no luck. i
have tried all combinations even a new cable to the thumb drive and no
luck. would anyone have any ideas what could be wrong?

It could be that if the external devices are powered you may need to plug in
the power cord that came with the device even if it gets power from the USB
port. Items that get power through the USB port drain power from the Power
Supply. You may need another Power Supply (bigger).

If the camera works in all USB ports but nothing else does after you have
connected any and all external power cords that may have came with the
devices I would get another Power Supply. You could also get a PCI or PCIe
snap-in card with USB connections and see if it is the actual hardware ports
them selves.
