usb headset

got the asus A7N8X deluxe, tried a usb headset and the sound quality is
horrid, I cant find anything else to help it, maybe theirs something to do
on the mobo side that could help? I guess the sound card has nothing to do
with it because its usb?

Usb headsets do not use audio from a soundcard so you have no control over
bass treble/other.
Setting those will not do anything at all to the sound.
It depends on if you want to use the headset for the right purpose in the
first place.
Quality can vary because of how good or bad the actual mylar units(mini
speakers) are.
Also the mic can vary as well.
NO coms headset is any good for music as they are not meant for that but
just normal sound.
If you want to listen to music then get headphones for music.

Just my 2 cents worth, I have a Plantronics brand headset
(headphones/mic combo), and the sound quality is nice, and the mic
works well. Cost about $20. Includes mic mute switch and volume
control. Run them directly from the low level output of mobo (using a
"Y" adapter).

Yes but that is not a usb set it's normal one that connects to the
soundcard/audio out.
Usb headsets only have a usb connector.

I use my headset/mic for flight sim stuff using voice clients like roger
wilco, I really like the usb thing because I can seperate the voice from the
engine sounds. I have done the splitter thing with a regular headset before
too. I bought a labtec axis-711, probably one of the cheapest you can buy,
maybe thats the problem.

one ear and still be able to hear your surroundings.
I feel the Axis-712 would be a better purchase over the two besides the
price difference just as it does offer the dual headphones as well as
offering up a better quality, clarity and performance. This does not mean I
would write off the Axis-711 as it does offer some great performance for the
value and if it’s only basic functionality your looking for this set will be
more than enough performance. Overall I give both products two thumbs way up
and rate the pair at 5 bananas, I would definitely suggest the pricier
Axis-712 over the two but still feel the Axis-711 offers what you pay for. "

I am using the plantronics DSP 100 USB headset for speech recognition on
the asus A7N8X deluxe and it is doing a very good job. Before that I used
the labtec axis-711 and I wasn't to pleased with that headset either.

So maybe you should try this one or another headset.
