USB flash drive size

Can someone advise me why 2GB flash drive must be in FAT32 format,
otherwise, it cannot support to this maximum size. What about the maximum
size of FAT (FAT16)?

Thanks,

Scott

I took the last five words of text from your message above, and
fed it to a search engine. This is what came back...

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/118335

"Multiplying the maximum number of clusters (65,525)
by the maximum cluster size (32,768) equals 2 GB."
