USB Flash Drive password protection query?

M

Matthew Duffy

I have recently bought a USB Flash Drive 2GB and wish to add password
protection to it so it cannot be accessed by anybody other than myself.

However, many of the programs i have tried so far are complicated and
difficult to use. All i want is the following to happen;

When i plug the USB pen into my computer, a simple dialog box will appear
asking me to enter a password. When i confirm this, the pen will allow me
access.

Also, i want this to happen when i plug it into every computer i use.

What is availible in this area?

Thank you

There must be a software installed to achieve this and for
installing this type of software admin previleges are required.
There is no way around this. Microsoft added many useless
features to Vista but this simple one everyone would love
is still missing.

The most populare encryption software is TrueCrypt:
http://www.truecrypt.org
Once installed on a computer, admin previleges are no more
required to mount an encrypted volume.

As far as I know there is no meachanism for completely
automatically mount an encrypted volume when an USB drive is
attached. This can be achieved by means of my 'USB drive letter
manager': http://www.uwe-sieber.de/usbdlm_e.html
