USB Flash drives

Have you had any problems with USB flash drives with Vista?

I saw articles saying that Vista doesn't have "Safely Remove Hardware"
like in XP, and some people aren't sure when to remove the flash drive
from the computer.

Is one USB flash drive different from another, except in size?

Vista has "Safely Remove Hardware".

I have a Sandisk flash drive and in Device Manager there is the option to
"Optimize for quick removal" which eliminates the need to "Safely Remove
Hardware".

You simply pull it out.

it does have safely remove hardware as in XP, they should only remove it
when they want to after right clicking on the flash drive in my computer
and click remove device. when a message appears on the pc saying its
safe to remove, then remove apart from that dont.

Sorry I was slightly confused from reading articles about the below
problem and USB flash drives:
http://groups.google.com/group/micr...eneral/browse_thread/thread/1f7ebdb269bba1ae#

Also a number of people said that they will see "Safely Remove
Hardware" and then it will suddenly disappear for no reason.
At that point they are not sure if they should just pull it out or
what.

When I said "size" in my original post, I mean size of memory, like
8Gig.

Do you have to "Format" a flash drive in any way or is it ready to go?

I have several different flash drives. All have been set in
properties, from the factory, to just remove then without having to go
the "Safely Remove Hardware" route.
