Hi,
I (well my boss actually) has a DELL Dimension 8200 on which is running
Windows XP Prof SP1 with all security patches / updates.
He called me in today because his USB ports are not working. On looking in
the Device Manager I see that there are two Universal Host Controllers under
Universal Serial Bus Controllers namely
Intel(r) 82801BA/BAM USB Universal Host Controller - 2442 &
Intel(r) 82801BA/BAM USB Universal Host Controller - 2444
Both of them are marked with a yellow exclamation mark.
I tried updateing the drivers, uninstalling and re-stating to provoke new
discovery and therefore new install and all sorts but each time it tries to
install the driver (yes- it is recognised correctly) it reports that the
driver could not be installed with the following message:
"The I/O operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or
application request"
I really don't know what to try next so would appreciate any help I could
get.
Thanks in advance.
