Just the other day, I was able to plug in the usb modem into the usb port(on
board) and goes to internet. The mobo is Xcel/2000. Now, I found out that
usb ports were not detected in the Device Manager. Does that indicate that
the usb port is now faulty? Appreciate if someone can comments and if there
is any viable solution, TIA

They may not be faulty, Just device manager needs to be updated with
what they are. Go to windowsupdate and retrieve all available updates
for your machine.

Thought it wud be better to split the updates into smaller portions.
Unfortunately ater 2 downloads, I cannot go to update the bal. Cpu even
without running anything is at 92% plus. Done NAV, AD WARE, MICRO ON LINE AND
SYSCLEAN reveals nothing. However the scan from sysclean does show some
reamrks eg the hotfix "denial of access' What can I do next as I really need
to get the machine going with the the USB. TIA
Think is the Mcafee taking up all the resource. Reason being;
when I on the pc under selective startup (with nothiNg), the pc boots up
finbr at 50 ries. However when I look into the TASK mgr, MCAFREE IS RUNNING
AND CPU AT ABT 93% when cpu is actully , Any ideas where I cn tried? TIA
