USB Controller

I have bought a new laptop, which I reformatted so that I
could dump the German software it came with and load on
XP. However the USB ports don't seem to work. The
computer tells me it is searching for the USB controller
and then says it can't find it.
Any ideas on what I can do? I have tried putting in the
original German product recovery disk in to find it - if
that is where it was meant to be - but no joy. Is there
somewhere I can download this information? I am a
complete computer illiterate so I have no idea!

Have you applied the sp1 update yet ?? Do so, that may
correct it. You may have to try to manually install them.
Do that from the add hardware wizard in the control panel
