USB confliction

Hello,

I'm having problems with my USB mouse and any USB drives that I insert into
my computer at the same time.

My mouse works perfectly for the last 2 year, but since I installed Vista i
started having problems so I formatted and reinstalled XP. when plugging in
any flash usb drive (I have one 256 meg and one 1 gig pen) my mouse just
stops working and will do until i pull it out of the computer and put it back
in. This also causes problems when plugging in my Ipod and/or Nokia N70 as
well. Any ideas?

Are there any yellow question marks in Device Manager? Right click on
the My Computer icon on your Desktop and select Properties,
Hardware,Device Manager. If yes what is the Device Error code?

Try Start, Run, type "sigverif.exe" without quotes and hit OK. What
drivers are listed as unsigned? Disregard those which are not checked.

How old is the computer? What is the make and model?

When you reinstalled Windows XP what did you do about third party
drivers? What is the make and model of your motherboard?

Hope this helps.

I'm looking for a fix for USB problems and this looks close. I have a pc of
crap HP notebook running XPsp2 and 2 out of 3 ports have actually broken
loose but a third is fixed but does not work at all. When I check devise mgr
it showes no problem and no beter driver. (for any of the ports) HP wants
me to send it in for a motherboard. (I would rather not) I am also
intrested in devices I may be able to plug in to add usb and have been told
that there are products available.

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
