USB card reader issue

Hello,

I run win xp, 2SP, all updates current.

I have a problem with USB card reader. I bought the equip 24 in 1
reader.
It gets recognized by the win, lights flash on the reader (both power
and access) but inserted cards are not readable.

I tried to read SD card, no success. Also CF memory card is not
readable.

What the hack am I missing here?

I installed the drivers that came with the device, but it still
doesn't work.
I also tried to read it under linux (knoppix), to no avail.

Any thoughts on the issue, any suggestions, please?

x.

I has a similar problem, turned out the cable from the reader to the
mother board was wired incorrectly.

Hmm.
Other devices do work on the same USB port, external drive, for
example.

Must be something else.
