hello,
I have es serious problem with the USB 2 connectin to my AUVION(HDD PVR
Video Recorder) with SAMSUNG HD (SV1604N).
I use 2 DELL Laps with WinXP but whenever I try to connect to a USB 2 the XP
show the connection as "no identified" (I dont know the correct english
terms, sorry).
But if I use a older simple USB entrance the drive shows up.....and
naturally gives me the note that i connect a fast speed part, to al low
speed...... :-(
(one of the Laps is an INSPIRON 8000 with booth USBs)

it shows that there is no driver installed to that hub (ALL other USB parts
work anytime without any prob) can not connet the Samsung HD an when I try
he looks for a "$wint$.inf" ....but without any result.
Itried on MS helppages but......sorry

it will be grat if I can get any advise how to fix
and I beg pardon to my bad english, its my 1st time here i try...

sorry now its a crosspost now, but i don't know exactly where I have to
post?

Hello,

Probably is an error related to the fact that the laptop doesn´t recognize
the usb 2 port... did your external drive cami with any cd to install under
XP ?
If not try looking in control panel-system-hardware-device manager and see
under Universal Serial Bus controllers if you got any ! mark in any or if
you can only see Generic USB Hub and no USB 2 reference than yours laptops
don´t have USB2 port...
You can try disconnect the HUB than reconnect it again and when the laptop
identifies it if it don´t recognize it should ask for drivers... you can
check the manufacter of the HUB to see if it has any drivers.
Please note that if you connect the USB2 HUB to a USB Port you will only get
USB 1.1 not 2.

thanks,
but I wrote that I use many USB Parts (for example a MAXTOR 120GB HDD, a LG
4040B DVD Burner and a lot more), nothing ever any probs.
The new Lap ist the DELL Latitude D800, one of the Tops only with USB 2
Hubs.
The USB Controller shows
4 USB-Root-Hubs and 4 "Intel(r)82801DB/DBM USB Universal Host Controller -
24c2/c4/c7..........."
Only when I plug the AUVION just one Hub shows that there ist "something
unidentified" (in german) and the attribute show that there (just on this
one Hub) is NO Driver installed.
The "Intel Hostcontroller shows "USW 2.0 extendet Hostcontroller - 24CD"

The Samsung HDD is part of the PVR AUVION (HDD-VCR) and the Samsung is in a
Mobile Rack inside the AUVION.
If i had a PC (DeskTop) it will be no any Prob, but with my Laptops I have
to use the USB connection the Auvion PVR give.
