USB 2 key is recognized but how can I open it

Hi

When I am home on my computer and plug in a USB 2 key, I can open it by
right clicking on 'Open as a nomad device' (I'm guessing the translation
here cos my system is in French)

Anyway, on my friend's laptop, this option doesn't appear and we can only
open a USB 2 key with a software.

But this doesn't work of course cos there are different types of files on
the USB 2 key.

Is there a patch that needs to be installed or a service that needs to be
activated to get this option to appaear in the contextual right click menu

Thanks in advance

Is this USb key is a "flash" drive (like a hard drive) or is it a
"mp3" player?

Nomad is / was a MP3 player made by Creative Labs (Sound Blaster.)
Have you checked with the USB 2 key device to make sure that the
driver is correctly installed?
