Displaying USB key in Windows

Hi

I have a USB key and problems finding my Podcasts.

Windows offers about 5 different ways of listing the contents but none of
them correspond to the order on the key.

Even displaying the podcasts using by 'track number' just seems to give me
alphabetical order but unfortunately Windows doesn't seem to have
transferred the MP3 files in that order.

How can I get Windows to display the order on the USB key???

Thanks in advance

The only way you can view the USB based on track number is with some type of
MP3 player. MP3 players would normally be able to display (aka sort) by track
number, which is usually store in the ID of the MP3 file.

What is the presumed "order on the key"? If it is something other than
what's available in Explorer(r-click the column header area while in
details view) then you're are out of luck.

You could rename the files, putting a number at the beginning of the name
- this would allow you to sort by name.
(look for a freeware named "bulk rename utility", or BRU - makes this
easier to do)

If you want them in the order that they were put onto the drive, you
could try sorting by "created date" (you may have to select this column
for display under view/choose details) - this may not be available on a
FAT formatted drive?

I assume that sorting by "track number" would require having an ID3 tag
in the file with that information filled in. You can edit the ID3 tag
using many freeware programs, as well as many MP3 player programs like
WinAmp.

When you drag-and-drop a group of files, it will often do the one that
the cursor is pointed at first (possibly from the middle of the list),
then the rest. Usually it is better to do a copy/paste (ctrl-c/ctrl-v)
