You have to have USB *hardware*, too. Do you have USB *hardware*? If
your computer is older and you didn't install a USB 2.0 controller
card, you don't have USB 2.0 hardware.

There is a catch 22 in this if you use the Express method of installing
SP1. It finds no evidence of USB 2.0 (as there were no drivers
previously) and therefore does not get them. There has been a
subsequent release of updated drivers, and I think if you get that
download it will do the trick: from
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;822603
and take the link to 'Download the 822603 package now'

I had the same issue as the OP. Unfortunately, still do. Tried Alex's
suggestion, but the same items are still in the Device Manager, i.e., no
"Enhanced USB Controller". Any other suggestions? Also, can anyone confirm
whether not having that particular listing is actually a problem? In other
words, might checking particular driver versions under any other listing(s)
confirm the presence of USB 2.0?

Thanks.

My question referred to confirming the presence of the necessary drivers.
Yes, my peripheral is USB 2.0 compliant.
