USB 2.0 Issues??

CHOUT

Hello,

I have just installed, uninstalled and reinstalled again
the newest SP 1a and I can not for the life of me get my
USB 2.0 drivers to work/recognize? The device manager
does not even show my root hub or any USB roots for that
matter as USB 2.0. My motherboard has USB 2.0 and I have
an iRiver mp3 that uses USB 2.0 to upload tunes.
Uploading 20 gb of music via USB 1.1 will take
weeks..lol. Also, my camera uses 2.0 and it really is
frustrating that it will not update to 2.0! My friends
computer says USB 2.0 in his device manager? Is this
right or should it just say "Enhanced PCI to USB Host
Controller?" Am i doing something wrong here? From what I
have read, they should be in there and the driver date
should be 29-Aug-2002 but instead it says 01-06-2002?
Everything on my motherboard works and its USB 2.0
compliant. Thanks for the help
everyone.

Hi

Right click My Computer/Properties/hardware/device manage
Double click on the universal serial bus controller
In the drop down list, can you see XXX PCI to USB Open Host Controller(USB1.1) an
XXX PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller (USB2.0)
If both controllers appeared, you have USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 support
Some computer would show USB Root Hub and USB 2.0 Root Hub, but some computer just showed USB Root Hub thought it have USB 2.0 support

If your mobo have USB 2.0, install the USB 2.0 drivers from the CD that came with the mobo (strictly follow the instruction for how to install USB 2.0 drivers

Or, if you sure SP1a is properly installed on your PC and you cannot found the XXX PCI to USB Enhanced Host controller
double click the XXX PCI to USB Open Host Controller, click the driver tab and than click update drivers. Let windows search and install the drivers and than reboot

BTW, what is the brand and model of your PC/mobo

My mobo is a MSI K7N2G-ILSR NForce with 6 USB 2.0 ports,
CPU: AMD Barton 2500+, 1536 MB PC2700, ATI 9800 Pro. I do
see an enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller but I do not
see any USB's with 2.0 listed at all. I will try to
delete the hubs and restart. I will keep you posted.
