Hi,

I'm getting a data transfer rate of about 6.6 Mbps when moving data
from a desktop harddrive to a USB 2.0 flash drive.

The system has Windows XP with all the latest updates. Device manager
shows under the Universal Serial Bus controllers section that there is
an:

Intel(R) 82801DB/DBM USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller - 24CD

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Flash drives are extremely slow when writing lots of
small files without a write cache and XP has no write
cache for FAT formatted removable USB drives.

Are your data small files? If so, do you get a better
data rate when you copy a large file to the flash drive?

No, I'm testing the transfers using two 50 megabyte files. It takes
about 2 minutes for the transfer.

I get about the same rate when the files are 3-4 megs in size.
