Hi!!
How do I install Windows 2003 server on XP home edition on a laptop
with 40GB. Please guide me like how I do the partition and any other
info if needed. The labtop is a new one not with many files saved on
it. I want to install windows 2003 for testing and also for practice.
Thank you.

You cannot upgrade XP Home to Server 2003. Your first concern should
be to ensure that your laptop is compatible with Server 2003. As
something in the order of 0.0000000000000001% of the server
installations in the world are on laptops you are not likely to find
much information in this regard. Once this is done your options are
to either:
1. Wipe out your existing XP Home and do a clean install of Server
2003 on the laptop.
or
2. Create a separate partition on your laptop's hard drive and
install Server 2003 there in a multi-boot configuration. This will
require a third party partitioning utility to reduce the size of the
XP Home partition to create unused space then create a new partition
for Server 2003 in this unused space. You will probably need at
least 10 and preferably 15 gb of space for this partition. There are
several partitioning utilities that will do this, including Partition
Magic (Symantec) and BootItNG (

Good luck
