Urgent - Unable to connect to AD

Hi Gals & Guys,

I have got a site that is a Single Server running Active Directory and we
have this server acting as a
Domain controller.

We can login to the File Server ok, but if we try and open any of the Active
Directory tools we get
an error of "Naming information cannot be located because: no authority
could be contacted for
authentication. Contact your system administrator. "

Plus none of the workstations can logon.

I have checked the DNS, it's working ok, I have restarted the F/s

Help! and Thanks

I suggest you google for the string "Naming information cannot be located ".
I found almost 600 hits, and the first few look spot on!

If you have the backup you can perform Primary backup in active directory
restore mode...

Hello,

Naming convention cannot be found tends to have me think DNS or another
domain controller in the environment.
Verify that your Domain Controller is pointed to itself and only itself
for DNS. Have it forward out to your ISP for internet resolution.
Reregister your DC by running the following in the command prompt
ipconfig /flushdns & ipconfig /registerdns & net stop netlogon & net
start netlogon.
Verify that your client machines are pointed to your DC for primary DNS
and NOTHING else

"none of the workstations can logon"
The client machines receive information for DC's in their domain from
DNS, so that would be the first thing I would look at.
It would be ironic if the secure channel has broken for all of your
workstations.
