Urgent: How to remove encryption

T

The Saint

Hi,
I am stuck with a weird scenario.
I had to reinstall my Windows XP on the C drive.
I have two other drives D and E, both of which are NTFS
formatted. I had a folder in the E drive which had
encrypted files.
Now after reinstalling Windows XP, I am not able to
access the files. I have created the user with the same
name and rights.
I have some important data in the files and can't afford
to delete the same. Is there any way by which I could
retrieve the data? Is it possible to remove the
encryption? If yes, please let me know how?
Please help me at the earliest.

Nothing wierd about your scenario. Too many people like you lose
access to thier files because they won't take the time to understand
what they are doing.

I would assume that if your data were really important, you would make
sure you completely understand how encryption works and the hazards if
something goes wrong.

But, you didn't. Instead, you delete your SID and decryption keys.
Both of which you need to decrypt your files. Now, XP has no way to
tell who you are and that you are suppose to have access to those files.

Your files are gone forever. And, it's your fault.
