Urgent-Cannot run any exe file

Hi,
All of a sudden I got this problem. my XP prof. version
does not open any executeble. when I double click some
link or executable, it prompts 'choose a program..open
with'. Even from run option I cannot type command and go
to command mode. Please suggest any solution. I cannot
run any thing on my pc.

EXE File Association Fix (Restore default association for EXE files)

Then check for viruses perhaps.
