Upsizing Access2000 To SQLExpress

B

BillD

I have split my database to front end and back end. The back end holds only
the tables. I used the upsizing wizard in access 2000. The SQL Server
Database is called PED40_beSQL. I can't find the database anywhere in my
computer. The tables were skipped or export failed. What is going on? Help!
Help! Help!

Any rassistance greatly appreciated.

Bob:
I tried to upsize using "Create new Database" It didn't work. All the tables
were skipped and no database was set up. I can't figure out what went wrong,
SO;
I would like to upsize using the existing back end database "PED40_be.mdb".
The next screen asks for a File Data Source and DNS name. What should I enter
here? The path to the database is"D:\SplitDatabase2007\PED40_be.mdb"

Any suggestions apprerciated.

When you are upsizing and it asks if you want to create a new database or use
an existing one, it means do you want to create a new database on SQL Server
or do you want to use an existing SQL Server database, not Access.

Also, I'm not sure about the screen you are talking about since I don't get
that when I do my upsizing but then again I am not part of a domain either.
Is there anyway you can post a screenshot somewhere so I can see what you are
talking about? It may be better to continue this on my main forum:

http://www.access-programmers.co.uk/forums/index.php

That way you can post screenshots, etc.

I joined the Access forum but for the life of me, I cannot see where I can
post a new question/thread. I reviewed a lot of the threads but none were the
same problem. Would you like me to explain in detail here or still go to the
site you suggested and post a new question. If I go to the new forum, how do
I post a new question?

If you are logged on you can post a new question by clicking on the category
you want, and in this case I would say the SQL Server category or the Tables
category would be the one to use. Then there's a NEW THREAD button at the
top left once you are in a category.

To post screenshots you select the Manage attachments button which is a
little below the window where you enter the post. I'm just thinking that the
screenshots may help us get you on the way.
