Uprgading to Windows XP pro from Windows ME

I have a simple question about upgrading windows
I purchased my Compaq computer two years ago in Thailand. It came with Windows ME pre-installed. I was not given a CD with Windows ME on it, but was given three CDs called "Quick Restore" with the Compaq logo on them, and a Microsoft copyright. (Do those three CDs contain Windows ME?) I now want to upgrade my operating system to Windows XP Professional. I don't know if I need to purchase the upgrade edition, or the full edition of XP. I don't know if my Windows ME is registered legitimately or not, and I don't know what I need to upgrade. Can someone explain this to me?
