Hi,
I have an XP machine and a Linux machine in a working network (pings go in both directions and I can log on to the Linux machine from the XP one). My problem is that a UPnP device running on the Linux machine won't show up in My Network Places.
I've sniffed traffic on both the XP and the Linux box, and this is what happens:
1. Device started, sends out ssdp:alive messages (seen on both machines).
2. Control point on Linux box started, sends out ssdp:discover, finds the device.
3. Open My Network Places on XP box, sends out ssdp:discover messages (seen on both machines again).
4. Device on Linux box answers with ssdp:alive (seen on both machines).
So the traffic comes through to the XP machine but nothing happens. I read somewhere that MNP only shows devices that have presentation pages, but the XP machine never even tries to get the description document of the device.
I also tried running the device app on the XP box. This time, what happened was that the device started ok and the associated control point found it, but the ssdp:discovers sent out by MNP went unanswered.
