I uploaded video (wmv) once from each of my two computers (win 2000 & winXP
media) to my site hosted by Yahoo. When I used IE to try to view the site and
play the video, I got a message requiring a username and password for a
network. This also happens when Yahoo technicians and anyone else tries to
view the video. This may have something to do with my (unsuccessful) efforts
to network the two computers. I did not mean to create any password protected
files and don't think I did because I would remember doing it.
Yahoo techs said it appears my video files have something attached from
microsoft that requires a username and password. You can see how this works at

This XP machine is new and I just recently played with the Media Center and
got it to display all my video files and played them. Then I used Yahoo's
SiteBuilder to upload one of those videos that I viewed. It feels like my
efforts to network the two computers somehow linked these files to a request
for username and password even after the file is uploaded to my internet
site. These files on the internet seem to think someone is trying to read
them through my home network. I have been able to upload other html pages all
along with no problems.
