Upgradte Vista homebasic to ultimate

hi there,

I recently bought a new laptop which came with Visa Home Basic and i bought
the Vista ultimate as well.

I tried to run the CD and it didnot show me an option for upgrade all it
shows is install.

so if i install it would it over write the vista basic or would be install a
new ultimate and i wold have 2 os.

I want to just upgrade either by simple upgrade or over installed the basic,
well I'm not sure what to do.

can someone suggest me?

Hi ,

what do you mean by a Clean Install do you mean 1st i have to unstall teh
exisiting one and then install the ultimate?

Your laptop will have been supplied not only with Vista Basic, but also a
package of programs and drivers specific to your machine..

Assuming that the laptop manufacturer website has ALL of the support drivers
available for download, you must at the very least ensure that you have the
drivers for the device to be used to connect you to the internet.. this may
either be Ethernet or analogue modem.. download and save them to a CD/DVD..

Bear in mind that all programs other than those contained within any basic
OS load will be wiped out and lost forever, unless you have also been
supplied with CD's for the individual programs..

Note also that the specifications to get the best form Vista Ultimate are
high.. dedicated video RAM should be at least 128mb, and regular RAM should
be 1gb or more ..

You will have to set the boot order to DVD drive priority, and then follow
on screen instructions.. in order that you do not end up with two
installations, take the option to delete partitions when asked..
