If I use the Windows XP PRO Upgrade, do I then have to
aslo purchase the Windows XP Professional Version also, or
can I then use the windows update to get the full version?
Aslo, Is there a student discount for the Purchase of
Windows XP Pro Full Version? The College I attend does not
have a contract this year with Microsoft. They did in the
2002 school year. But, the courses require that I upgrade
to the Windows XP Professional (full version) edition.

The upgrade version is the full version, it just requires that you have
purchased a previous version of Windows. The upgrade will check to verify
that you have a version of Windows currently installed on your computer.

Hi,

The Upgrade version is exactly the same as the Full version, the only
difference is in how they install (the former requiring the qualifying
product installation or media). There is no need to purchase both.

It's up to your school whether or not to opt into the educational discount
program.

The upgrade disk has the full version of XP on it, it just will not work
without a previous veriosn of Windows on your machine or on a CD.
I can't answer the part about the educational discount.

The software you get in an Upgrade and a Full version is exactly the
same., The only difference is that the Upgrade setup will check for the
existence of a 'qualifying product' that is accepted for the discount
price.

Yes - an Academic License. That is solely to the person concerned for
as long as the study continues - it can't be transferred onward.
Consult the school or college for availability
