Upgrading windows xp professional

I have a XP Professional upgrade cd that I purchased in 2003, and I just
bought a new computer that has XP Home on it. When I went to install the
upgrade it tells me it can't because the XP on the computer is newer then the
one on the cd. How do I work around this/
Thanks Mike

First question, is this upgrade already installed on another PC? If the
answer is yes, you can't install it on this one.
If the answer is no, you need to slipstream XP SP2 into your current upgrade
CD and burn a new XP disk to install with.

This means that your installed OS is at a higher service pack level
than is the WinXP Pro CD you're using. You'll either need to uninstall
SP2 (Control Panel, Add/Remove programs) before attempting the upgrade,
or try slipstreaming SP2 into older WinXP installation. With a newly
purchased OEM installation, it's highly unlikely that you'll be able to
unstall the service pack, so:

You need to create a slipstreamed copy of your XP PRO CD that includes SP2.
Use the information in the link below to create a updated XP Pro CD with SP
2 included.
