Upgrading Win98 to SP2

SP2 is not a complete new version of Windows. It's an update to
Windows XP. You can't upgrade from one operating system to an
update for another.

You've almost certainly completed hosed the operating system and
will have to reinstall it cleanly.

anything from M$. It wont boot so I have no way of
unistalling it. Is there a way to at least get into safe
mode so I can transfer all of my pictures (4 gig) onto
disks?

I can't believe sp2 got past the start screen.
