Can someone help me?
I'd like to upgrade my HP system which is Windows XP home edition to
Professional, and I would like to instal my Windows 2000 Server as well so I
can create databases. Is this OK?

Thanks much

You'll need to reformat your drive, create at least two partitions,
install Windows 2000 Server on the first partition, then install
a "Full Version" of Windows XP Pro on the second partition.

Create databases? You can do that in any OS
Are you trying to say you want to administer databases
for web reference?

XP Pro does that just fine.

You might wish to check with HP before installing and upgrading your
OEM copy of Home to Pro. HP machines are very proprietary and usually
require special drivers for its hardware. I don't know what you mean
about installing W2K Server to create databases? What kind of
databases? MS Office Pro comes with Access which will run just fine
on either XP Home or Pro.

Thanks for your help!
I like to use W2K Server because I'm using and coding procedures, W. Access
does not have this feature.

Thanks for your help!

Do you mean, after formating my HD, I will install Windows Server 2K in its
partition?
Can I then access that server drive from XP Pro partition?

Thanks

With all due respect to Mr. Frisch, formatting your HD and installing
Server 2K and XP Pro may not be a good idea considering you have a HP
system. As I advised in a previous reply, be sure you check with HP
first before doing so. If you do decide to completely re-invent your
machine, and you're certain you can obtain drivers for all the
proprietary HP hardware, then you would want to install W2K Server
first before XP Pro.
