I have just bought a whole bunch of new hardware for me and my girlfriends
computers. But after upgrading and restarting the system; windows states that
i need to re-activate my windows.

But this is not allowed: Windows tells me that my license key is not valid.

After reading through a bunch of posts from different websites - I get the
understanding that i need to buy a whole new windows !! This can´t be true,
right ? - Is there actually a "maximum" number of hardware that is allowed to
change ????

If you upgraded hardware you will have to undertake a repair install of win.
However certain pc makers lock the supplied win cd to the specific hw as was
origonally supplied.

Hi,

This should give you some background. Unless you have one of the illegal
keys, all you really need to do is phone in the activation.
