i have a dell deminsion 4500 and 8200 when i upgraded
both pc to 1 gig of memory it shows the amount of memory
in systems general but now both pc's run slower then when
i had 512 mb of memoryand some programs won't start at
all example{virtual memory swap file is less than the
recommended 140 mb.... } i have sent dell 3 emails and
all replys were the same to run msconfig but that didn't
work does windows xp identify memory in gigabytes
if you can email me some help with this problem i'd be
greatful

Xp will recognize memory that high i have a 2 gig on my
machine and it sees all 2 gig but sometimes that much
memory is overkill.... Even with that much memory on the
system windows os always need the virtual memory... change
the virtual to system assigned and u should see an
improvement
