Upgrading IBM Netvista from W98 to W2K

I am trying to upgrade as mentioned above. The setup
seems to take but at some point (just after it trys to
detect network settings) if reboots and trys to redo the
setup. I get an error d:\I386\nt5inf.cat catalogue can
not be found

I am not using an IBM W2K disk but just a standard
one...will that make any difference.

Then I tried to reformat and take the computer back to W98
but when I tried to do that and put the W98 disk in I get
an error saying format ntldr is missing.

Any help going to W2K or even back to W98 greatly
appreciated.
