cannot copy all files during install

I have a 5 yr/ old Dell Dimension that was running ME. I an trying to upgrade
to W2K. I reformatted the drive and then attempted to boot from W2KPro CD.
Cannot boot from CD and I can;t get into BIOS to change boot sequence. I
then ran the W2k set up disks and was able to start the install process from
CD. Goes through a good percent of the install and them comes up with
message that it cannot copy certain files. From taht point on - it can;t
copy any of the remaining files - so I stopped the install. i then
successfully installed w98 and tried upgrading to w2k - same problem???

Try another CD-Rom drive. Try looking at the mobo manual for instructions on
resetting the cmos setup to defaults.

To do a clean install, either boot the Windows 2000 install CD-Rom or setup
disks. The set of four install disks can be created from your Windows 2000
CD-Rom; change to the \bootdisk directory on the CD-Rom and execute
makeboot.exe (from dos) or makebt32.exe (from 32 bit) and follow the
prompts.

When you get to the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions
found. After you delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again
restart the pc booting the CD-Rom or setup disks to avoid unexpected drive
letter assignments with your new install.

Be sure to apply these to your new install before connecting to any network.
