Upgrading Hard Drive in Fujitsu Lifebook C2220

Roger

I have a nearly 5-year old Fujitsu Lifebook C2220 with a 30 GB hard
drive. I would like to upgrade the hard drive with something larger,
but I have not been able to find any pointers as to how to open the case
to access the hard drive.

Any pointers greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Usually PC's make it pretty easy to change hard drives. There may be a
cover in the back to remove, held in by screws. I might be concerned though
as to the greatest size drive that one could put in without updating the
bios. Usually there is a thin cage that one attaches first to the hard drive
and then attach the cage to the computer. You'll need jeweler's philips
screwdriver to get the screws off, but it's a relatively straight forward
process. Make sure the data/power connector is the same standard for the
replacement drive you want to install. Obviously handle the drive at the
edges, not touching the circuit board or chips.
It probably would be good to go to the Fujitsu site and check to see
what size drives they have available as an upgrade to see if there are any
limits. They may also give the valuable specs as to what kind of data/power
connector it uses so your replacement works without a problem.

Below I've given the site you can go to retrieve the pdf manual for your
machine should you not have it.

Some laps will only take the lower height 9.5mm drives. If yours is
12mm then either is fine.

Thank you, that helped a lot. I paid my 12.99 and downloaded a 12 page
PDF with 34 pictures and comments showing how to completely disassemble
the laptop and another 34 pictures and comments on how to assemble the unit.

For my model, the trick is to remove 2 screws on the back and take out
the floppy drive. The hard drive is underneath the floppy (when the
unit is upside down).
