All of the keys I have seen recently, other than COA stickers on machines,
sport numbers that are maybe 20% taller than any adjacent letter..

Perhaps the CoA stickers are outsourced ;-) or that department missed Bill's
latest memo.....

Guess they have changed it. My XP Pro is old. But so are my eyes. I have
had trouble in the past with some of those letters/numbers. The COA on my
new notebook is fairly easy to read so things have improved.

I have just purchased a SEALED copy of XP Professional Upgrade to upgrade
from my XP Home. I have attempted many times to load it however am advised
each time that the Product Key is incorrect. Have had associate enter Product
Key several times with same result (in case I was misreading characters). Any
suggestions other than calling Microsoft?

You need to examine the Product Key very carefully. It's awfully
easy to mistake a "B" for an "8," a "G" for a "6," an "S" for a "5," or
a "Q" for a "0" or "O." Fortunately, Microsoft had the good sense to
leave the "1's," "I's," "O's," and "0's" out of the equation. Also, be
sure that your <CapsLock> is _off_ while entering the Product Key --
this isn't supposed to make a difference, but I've seen it do so, on
rare occasions.

XP Home is NOT an eligible upgrade path for XP Pro. Eligible products
should be written on the box.

Ah.... Did you bother looking at the URL you provided? If you had,
you would have known that WinXP Home is a legitimate qualifying product
for the upgrade to WinXP Pro.

Apparently, the Microsoft executive who approved the packaging design
for the WinXP Pro Upgrade box didn't consider the possibility that some
peoples' requirements could change after purchasing WinXP Home, or that
some people might not do the necessary research to make sure that they
bought the correct version of WinXP the first time.
