Upgrading from XP Home to XP Professional using Full Version

I have a new laptop that came with Windows XP Home edition. I just bought a
full version (not the upgrade version) of Windows XP Professional. Can I use
this full version of the XP Professional to upgrade (not fresh install) from
the XP Home? Thanks.

Yes, if it is a "Retail Version" and no if it is an "OEM Version".

Thank you> Just a clarification. I suppose you meant the "retail version" for
the XP Professional that I just bought. Is that right?

Sorry Alex. I am new to the community and I ended up posting the same
question under two different names because the first question was not showing
up. Very sorry, but I am learning. Thanks for everyone's help.

THat's OK; but it may take a while for a question to propagate across
servers, so it shows up, and more importantly people are not on 'instant
response'. They are all round the world, so give things 24 hours. And
you might get on better using a 'proper' News account in Outlook Express
(server msnews.microsot.com) that that horrid kludgy Web one you are
using
